We have 4 nurses, all RGNs who are employed by the practice and are available for general advice, dressings, injections (travel and immunisations), emergency contraception and cervical smears. An appointment can be made with them without seeing the doctor first.
The Nurse Clinical Practitioner sees patients with minor illnesses and injury. She is able to diagnose and prescribe medication for the GPs.
The Emergency Clinical Practitioner carries out home visits, triages patients and deals with minor illness and injury for the the GPs.
Our 2 part-time healthcare assistants are available for phlebotomy, blood pressure checks, ECGs and spirometry. Ask the receptionist if you wish to make an appointment and they will put you in the correct clinic.
We also have two phlebotomists who are available for blood tests and blood pressure monitoring.
There are Two admin staff who are responsible for data input, coding of patients notes and receiving and returning patients records as they leave and join the practice. They are also responsible for summarising patient records.
Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries.
We run a busy practice at times Reception,secretarial and administrative staff are under pressure. We ask that you be a patient patient. Any questions they ask will be to ensure you get the most appropriate care.
We have two secretaries who support the doctors. They are responsible for typing referral letter as dictated by the doctors, and answering any telephone queries about referrals. They are also responsible for insurance reports.
The midwife is attached to the practice and helps to run the ante-natal clinics and parentcraft classes. She does post-natal visits at home. Community Midwife Number 01295 229776
Community Nurses are also referred to as District Nurses
The nurses are employed by Oxfordshire Primary Care Trust and attached to the practice. They bring nursing care to the sick at home, on a doctor's recommendation, and can be contacted on 01865 902377
Our health visitors are employed by Oxfordshire Primary Care Trust. They can be contacted by telephoning 01865 904440 (an answerphone will be in operation when they are out of the office.) They hold a drop-in baby clinic at Britannia Road Children's Centre on Thursday mornings 10am - 11am and the Sunshine Centre by Bradley Arcade 10am - 11am and are happy to advise on health matters, particularly relating to pre-school children.
